Sound, Story, and Object: Telling Digital Tales from Podcasts to Museum in a Box

In our course, Literacy in the 21st Century, students progress from digital literacy to digital fluency over the span of a single semester. They engage with a range of 21st-century literacies and create storytelling projects—such as podcasts, digital essays, and digital portfolios—using a variety of digital tools and technologies. One example isMuseum in a Box, an innovative platform that enables users to design physical objects embedded with digital stories. When a tagged item is placed on the smart box, it activates and brings the story to life.
