VP, Information Technology, Asst. Provost for Educational Innovation, Chief Academic Technology Officer University of Miami<\/p><p>Since 2013, Allan Gyorke has served as Chief Academic Technology Officer (CATO) at the University of Miami (UM), and has been responsible for exploring and supporting technologies used by faculty and students for teaching and learning. Additionally, Gyorke serves as Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation, advancing the Education Revolution initiative of the University&#8217;s Roadmap to Our New Century. Gyorke&#8217;s priorities include assessing the faculty\u2019s familiarity with the range of pedagogical methods and technological resources, devising appropriate resources and workshops to foster and promote pedagogical innovation, and advising on the use of classroom and online technologies. Prior to joining UM, Gyorke studied and worked for 21 years at Penn State University, where he oversaw computer workshops, ran the IT services for the Hazleton campus, built some of the first online courses and massive open online courses (MOOCs), worked closely with faculty on the integration of technology into traditional on-campus courses, and led course redesign efforts to include student-generated media, podcasting, blogs, online social networks, and flipped learning models. She is also interested in assisting instructors in the adoption of innovative new technologies and strategies, such as those found in the Teaching Center\u2019s Media Creation Lab and Open Lab. As an Information Systems staff member assigned to the Wake Forest makerspace, the WakerSpace, Paul is involved in technology and making, which is used to teach students in and out of the classroom. With a bachelor\u2019s Degree in Communications with a Television Production Concentration and an Associate\u2019s Degree in Electronic Engineering, Paul brings over 30 years of experience, all based in technology, to the program. In his current role, Paul works with students on a daily basis helping them to utilize various \u201cmaker\u201d technologies into their classwork. He has also co-facilitated the Computer Science STEM Robotics course as well as led many \u201cpop-up\u201d labs geared towards extracurricular learning for the WFU community. These labs include Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Makey Makey, laser cutting, and 3D printing technologies.
