My roots are Appalachian, in a small corner of western Maryland. I have been working in documentary filmmaking and storytelling for almost a decade, serving as editor, producer, cinematographer, and director on a variety of projects. As an independent documentary filmmaker, I focus on place-based storytelling with a focus in Appalachia. Currently, I am an Adjunct Professor in the Film Studies Program at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, where I am imparting my passion onto the next generation of filmmakers. I also serve as the Media Editor in the Office of Online Education here at Wake Forest University, contributing my expertise to support faculty in realizing their creative visions for various media projects. Most recently, my documentary, “Finding Home”, has screened at various film festivals, premiered\u00a0 on WV PBS, and has won the Audience Choice Award at the Boone Docs Film Festival.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
